CAMDEN - The Camden County Police Department has named its administration building in honor of its former chief J. Scott Thomson.
The police station took on the new identity Tuesday during a ceremony attended by dozens of law enforcement officers, elected officials and business leaders.
The new name for the 800 Federal Street building recognizes Thomson's "achievements in crime reduction and community policing," said Camden County Freeholder Louis Cappelli Jr.
"The way to fix communities is not to have them be afraid of you, but to empower them," Thomson said during Tuesday's ceremony.
